And, I Got the Milk

Some days, life looks pretty polished on Instagram. And some days, it looks like mine did today: a little messy, a little chaotic, and completely real.

This morning started with a workout—my attempt at starting the day with a little sanity—but then the day took off. Client meetings, a quick visit to my son’s high school business class, errands like picking up the mail and heading to the bank, picking up the dogs from the groomer, dropping off donations… and yes, at some point, I got the milk.

In between, I checked on my restaurant, made sure everything was running smoothly, and snuck in a few moments to breathe. Somewhere in there, I had a laugh, a little frustration, and a reminder that life doesn’t pause just because my schedule is packed.

I’m sharing all of this not to brag. I have help. A supportive husband. Kids who actually pitch in. Amazing mentors. Incredible people in my business circle. But life still shows up as a whirlwind, no matter how much support you have. And some days, it’s the small things—the milk, the dog walk, the random errands—that hold it all together.

It makes me think of why Michael and I wrote The Intentional Journey: How to Build a Strategic Plan for Business and Life. Most of what we accomplish isn’t accidental; it happens because we choose it. And those choices aren’t about perfection—they’re about being intentional. Choosing where to show up, how to spend your energy, and what matters most in that moment.

Today, my intentional choices were client calls, business decisions, showing up for my kids, supporting causes I care about… and yes, even the milk. And somehow, that’s enough.

Because fulfillment isn’t about doing it all flawlessly. It’s about showing up intentionally—one small, real choice at a time.
